About Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of therapy rooted in the principles of psychoanalysis. It focuses on exploring how unconscious processes and early life experiences influence current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. The goal is to bring these unconscious factors to light so they can be understood and addressed.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I aim to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your past experiences, leading to lasting emotional and psychological change and a better quality of life.
Many of the emotional challenges we face as adults—like constant anxiety, feeling stuck in repetitive relationship patterns, or carrying an underlying sense of unease don't appear out of nowhere. Often, they are deeply connected to our earlier life experiences and how we learned to survive them.
When we go through difficult times or trauma, our minds naturally develop coping mechanisms to protect us. While these strategies worked back then, they can become automated over time. In adulthood, these same protective habits can end up holding us back, causing us to react to present-day situations using old, outdated scripts.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers a safe space to gently untangle these connections. By bringing these hidden patterns into awareness, we can understand why we feel the way we do. This self-discovery allows us to heal from past trauma, break free from old cycles, and make conscious, authentic choices about our lives moving forward.
